Own your beach in the stewardship sense. Come help continue our restoration of the classic dune ecosystem between Kahili beach and the Kahili stream estuary.

HILT’s next Volunteer Day at Kahili Beach Preserve is scheduled for Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. with Talk Story on the Land to follow from 10 a.m.-11:30 a.m.  Light refreshments will be provided. Please complete waiver in advance, if you are planning to attend.  If available, bring along trash bags and yard gloves (I will have a limited number at the site).  We’re planning to remove invasives and rubbish.

Last chancel for input to Kauai’s General Plan – March 8

Posted by

The Kauai Community Coalition is kindly requesting your participation in what may be the last opportunity for input to the

Planning Commission on the

2017-2035 General Plan

Wednesday March 8, 2017

Kapa’a Library

On March 14 the Planning Commission may make a motion to accept the Draft General Plan that will provide guidance for the future of Kauai up to 2035. As a group of concerned citizens that rose out of the gathering of the Neighborhood Associations, and has been following the General Plan Update review process, we will once again gather to discuss our collective messaging to the Planning Commission prior to, and at, their March 14 meeting. Although the Planning Dept. has made a concerted effort to continue to modify the Plan based on community input, many of us feel the document is not yet complete.

Please join us to discuss and plan for how we might have the greatest impact before the Draft General Plan leaves the Planning Commission and heads to the County Council.

Look forward to seeing you at the

Strategic Prep Meeting on March 8, 6-8 pm.

Sponsored by Members of the Kaua’i Community Coalition

Here’s the P.T.S.A. news for February 13th-17th
TRACK CLUB will begin practice on Monday, February 13th from 2:15-3:15pm. You or your child may get a permission form to join from Mrs. Sitzler (A-2) or from the front office. The Island Wide Track Meet will take place at Vidinha Stadium on Saturday, April 8th for K-5 students and April 9th for 6th Grade so…track club parents… please mark your calendars!
MondayTrack Practice  2:15pm
WednesdayKCFCU Bank Bus Deposits  7:15-7:45am
ThursdayKilauea School Science Fair & S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology,Engineering, Art & Math) Family Night  5:45pm in the Cafeteria
ALL (except one) of the stations and ALL of the 6th Grade Science Fair Projects are NEW THIS YEAR so even if you came to last year’s STEAM Night…you will want to come to this one!
Light blue flyers will be coming home today or tomorrow for this event. Please send in the response portion so that we can prepare enough food and materials for everyone and if you are able to volunteer for an hour during the event…your help will be truly appreciated.
Coming up…
SCHOOL SPIRIT WEEK: Week of February 21-24th (NO SCHOOL FEB. 20th for PRESIDENTS’ DAY) Flyers will be coming home to let students know what they can wear on each of those days to show their school spirit.
Career Day is  February 24th 8-10am
Drama Club’s performances of the “Lion King” are Thursday, March 2nd @ 1:15pm (Schoolwide performance),and Friday & Saturday, March 3rd & 4th @6pm in the School cafeteria. Invite your family & friends!
Fitness Fun Day is Friday, March 17th
PLEASE NOTE: (Since I had a few new parents asking…) This event is separate from the JUMP ROPE FOR HEART EVENT which you have recently received packets for. The JUMP ROPE FOR HEART will be different this year in that it will be done in the students’ PE classes, not as an event. ALL MONIES that you or your family/friends donate for this cause will go directly to the American Heart Association.
FITNESS FUN DAY is a fundraising event for the school and ALL MONIES stay at the school to be used for a variety of programs and materials/equipment used by students/staff as well as REWARDS for students that bring in the most $ or pledges in their grade level.
Students will bring home FITNESS FUN DAY packets the last week of February and have 2 weeks to collect as many pledges as possible before the event on the last day of this quarter.
During the event, classes will rotate through a series of fun, fitness stations-then return to their classrooms for their end of the quarter parties. We are hoping to have an online donation site this year to make it easier for family/friends off-island to make donations.
Have a great week!
