A study of potential improvements for bicycle and pedestrian access to the Kīlauea Point National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Overlook is underway. The County of Kauai, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and support from the Federal Highway Administration Central Federal Lands Division are studying ways to improve connections between Kīlauea and the Kīlauea Point NWR Overlook through the Kīlauea Point Bicycle & Pedestrian Access Project. Opportunities for safe bicycle and pedestrian access from Kīlauea Town along Kīlauea Road to the Kīlauea Point NWR Overlook will be assessed along with new options for the parking configuration and circulation of automobiles, transit, bicyclists, and pedestrians at the Kīlauea Point NWR Overlook.
The Kauai National Wildlife Refuge Complex has a tractor operator position open and the announcement was just posted today (see links below for more information)! Please help us spread the word to others!
